Order of Fuse: Day of Service in the Avenue
We kicked off the 2022-2023 Order of Fuse member year with a fun, casual event at Fuse Factory featuring food from our friends at Post. Members old and new had the opportunity to mix and mingle and get to know each other better in intimate group discussions. We are so excited for this diverse group of young professionals to embark together on a year of networking with other difference makers in our city, volunteering, and giving back in a unique way. Here is what they have been up to lately…
FHES Service Day
After kick-off, Order of Fuse’s first event was a service activity. Members joined together at Florence Howard Elementary School to build three garden beds and install rain barrels to be utilized by their Garden Club, which was launched by Order of Fuse grant recipient, The Cookery Project. The rain barrels were graciously donated to FHES by the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program and Greif. Since their installation, the children have planted seeds, learned all about the different parts of the plant, and how to protect them in the colder months. The most recent meeting of this club was filled with excitement to see real growth from seeds that were planted in October.
New Year Cocktail Hour
In January, we celebrated the new year with an Order of Fuse cocktail hour. Our members enjoyed an evening under the lights at The Balcony in Fairhope with delicious libations and killer bites from BillE’s, including a bacon bar, boiled peanuts, and pimento cheese. It’s always a wonderful time getting together and connecting with other community difference makers.
Fat Fuse Day
Rain or shine, Order of Fuse lets the good times roll! We had an absolute blast at our annual Mardi Gras “Fat Fuse Day” celebration at The Ice Box Bar Back Bar on Saturday, February 11. We enjoyed The Dew Drop Inn’s classic hot dogs; face painting; music by Mobile Secondline Society; and king cake tastings from Bread by Beck, Greer’s St. Louis Market, Pollman’s, and Big Bad Breakfast. We even had a front row spot on the barricade for the afternoon parades! It might have been a little wet, but it certainly didn’t rain on our parade.
Read Across America
Read Across America Day is one of our favorite days at Order of Fuse. We love having the opportunity to visit with and read to the students at Florence Howard Elementary School. The children are so eager and enthusiastic, and everyone had a wonderful time celebrating how fun reading can be!
